I have an Honours Degree in Psychology from the University of Western Ontario. In addition to this, I have a Masters in Assessment and Counselling from the University of Toronto. For 21 years, I worked for Addiction Services of York Region as a Supervisor of the Youth and Family program where I supervised clinicians, developed the family therapy program and worked with clients and their families who struggled with addictions.
I started my own private practice in the community in 2008 providing therapy support to individuals, couples and families. I have also been a therapist on a Family Health Team , for 14 years, providing mental health therapy and support to patients.
I am a registered therapist with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and with the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals (OAMHP)
I draw from many therapeutic modalities which allow me to tailor my approach to the specific needs of my clients. These modalities include Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, Solution Focused Therapy and Relational Therapies.
Specialized trainings include Emotion-Focused Therapy (Level 1 and 2, couple therapy), Gottman Level 1(couples), Relational Life Therapy, Mindfulness without Borders, Addictions Treatment, Narrative Therapy Intensives, Family Therapy training and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy certification.
I specialize in mental health, depression, anxiety, substance misuse, stress management, relationship support and work/life balance.
In my therapy, I help clients identify their values, skills and strategies to move towards identified goals. I welcome the opportunity to help my clients live fully and authentically beyond the concern that initially brought them to therapy.
